Our Mission Statement
"The Robert James Graves Foundation’s mission is to disseminate timely and useful information, to perform charitable services, and to raise funds to help conduct research to enhance productivity and quality of life for people suffering from Graves Disease."
Our Story
​
The charity was originally the brainchild of Dr. James Neil Shea, from Rutherglen. Father of the Chairman, Sherwood Shea, who is a Graves' sufferer himself. Dr. Shea's reason was his involvement, as Chairman of the British Boxing Board of Control and of his linking of head trauma to Boxers, which can cause Graves. The neurological similarities in the symptomology of "punchy" boxers, which is at times misdiagnosed as Parkinsons.
Founded in 2015 as a fully incorporated non profit Charity. Set up in order to help Graves' sufferers and their families, who for one reason or another could use a helping hand (financially and emotionally). To them, a donation is much more than of monetary value - it is unyielding, faithful support in an otherwise trying time.
